Technical Author / Senior Technical Author
Location: Cambridge, UK
Key Responsibilities
Write, edit, and update highly technical hardware documentation for use by designers and implementers that maximize comprehension and ease of use
Work closely with engineering teams to obtain source information, from both internal project documentation and interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Work closely with other members of the Technical Publications to maintain corporate styles and formats
Required skills
Minimum of two years (five years for senior position) technical authoring experience in a development tools environment writing material aimed at either software developers and/or hardware designers.
Bachelors degree or equivalent related experience
Good understanding of the complete documentation production cycle. Senior Authors must have proven experience of planning and tracking multi-document projects
Excellent writing skills
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills in order to manage the flow of information between contributors and reviewers
Comprehensive working knowledge of one or more professional publishing tools (either FrameMaker or equivalent type of package)
Self-starter capable of working with minimal direct supervision
Broad understanding of the subject matter and the ability to learn quickly
Desirable skills
Knowledge of microprocessors and/or System-on-Chip designs
Knowledge of SGML
Working knowledge of FrameMaker+SGML, and Visio software packages.
