Pipeline Engineer


PIPELINE ENGINEER required with design experience with high quality experience in designing Oil & Gas pipeline and associated facilities in swamp and onshore locations. The contract will be for an initial period of 12 months. This job will be based in Lagos at the clientss corporate facilities, and does not necessitate visit to the volatile Niger Delta region of the country by the candidate.
The requirement is very urgent, and ideally they would like to have someone in place within the next 4 weeks (end of May 2009). In terms of salary package, its negotiable depending on the candidate in question but expect a salary of $120k - $150k pa. Other benefits would include accommodation, company car and driver, cost of air travel between Nigeria and candidates base (for perhaps 2/3 personal trips a year based on agreed rotation).

Roles
• To ensure, through individual or the collective actions of others, that oil and
gas production facilities designed are functional, safe, reliable and in compliance
with client company approved standards and relevant industry practices.
• To ensure completeness and consistency of the design, the Pipeline Engineer
will also be required to interface with other discipline engineers who are part of
the design team.
Responsibilities
• Verification of existing facilities and existing drawings, including
coordination of site surveys for various engineering disciplines
• Provide guidance during design development and subsequently review
• Conceptual and detailed pipeline design for pipelines, including river
crossings, platform approached and platform risers.
• Material selections
• Support procurement services during sourcing and procurement of line
pipe and associated pipeline materials
• Route survey specifications and review of results
• Input into pipeline installation concepts and review

• Interface with other discipline engineers during the development and
subsequent review of engineering deliverables
• Assist project engineer in resolution of engineering issues
• Participate in Risk Assessments and Design / Constructability Reviews of
engineering deliverables
Minimum Requirements/Education:
• Bachelor of Science (or higher) Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent
degree
• Technically competent in oil and gas production facility design
• Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
programs
• Good working knowledge of relevant API, ASME, ANSI, AISC, DNV codes,
standards and recommended practices
• Pipeline design experience
Other:
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English
• Consensus builder with interpersonal skills and ability to work either
independently or in a multidiscipline team
• Good communication skills
• Good coordination skills
• Willing and capable of mentoring younger and/or inexperienced engineers
• Goal / results oriented
