887 - Accountant - Catering


Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments. Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, site services and fuel management.

Within their Military Supply Division they are seeking an Accountant to manage the finances of their catering operations in Afghanistan.

The primary objective of the role is the carrying of out of day to day finance and accounting activities relating to our clients catering operations.

You will provide full accounting guidance to local management and the relevant departments and will provide relevant data to and cooperate with the central finance department.

You will analyze and improve administrative processes and will ensure that all financial activities are managed and meet reporting requirements accurately, on time and in line with our client’s and Skills:

The successful candidate will ideally posses a Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce, ideally a degree in accounting

You will be an experienced management accountant or equivalent with strong IT, finance and administration skills, a good grasp of budgets and expenditure constraints and experience in leading, managing and developing a small accounts and admin team.

You will have a good knowledge of Accounting IT systems, E-banking and Microsoft Excel
and will pay attention to the detail and be highly organised.

You should have a high level of initiative, problem solving and decision making ability

In addition you should have a positive, professional and proactive approach and have the essential ability to communicate at all levels and a commitment to develop yourself as well as others.

You should be an experienced PC user familiar with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and accordingly they seek a career minded finance professional and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.

The position can be offered on a 6 day week basis or 7 day week basis. On a 7 day week basis a higher salary and benefits package is available.

The basic salary is paid in USD and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in USD and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.

Accommodation, laundry, local transport, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees on a 6 day contract will receive 40 days annual leave per year and one free flight back to their home base. Ex-Patriate employees on a 7 day contract will receive 42 days annual leave per year and two free flights back to their home base.

Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
