Layer 1 Development Engineers 3G - GSM GPRS EDGE

The company based in Sophia Antipolis in the South of France is looking for experienced Layer 1 engineers to develop and maintain the UMTS/GSM-EDGE layer 1, part of the system solution for 3G/2G mobile phones and User Equipment.
The consists of developing and supporting the Layer 1 running on the 's WCDMA/HSDPA/GSM/GPRS/EDGE baseband chipset, and integrated with a dual-mode 3G/2G protocol stack.
In addition to Protocal Stack integration activities, the Layer 1 Engineers will work with the system team to define hardware/software architecture and tradeoffs, as well as platform debug, trace, and integration features.
The profile of the ideal candidate would have the following characteristics:
Development in 3G and/or GSM/GPRS/EDGE mobile layer 1
Experience of type approval, interoperability, network approval and field trial testing
Understanding of the low layer ETSI requirements
Use of real-time embedded debug tools
'C' language programming
Additional skills:
3G and/or GSM/GPRS/EDGE User Equipment Protocol Stack development
Use and scripting of base station emulator test equipment
Customer support
Experience of embedded real time operating systems
Driver development
Engineers with expertise in low layer protocol stack development should apply.
Opportunities may exist to work at all layers of the protocol stack, all the way from the physical layer to the upper layers and applications interfaces.
Candidates should have an excellent academic background (at least a 2:1 degree from a top-tier university) and at least 3 years experience. They should also be highly motivated and excited by the prospect of working in a fast-paced start-up environment.
