Cable television Architect
Job Purpose
To support the company drive to further strengthen its presence in the cable television industry worldwide. This will involve:
• Architecting the company recommended cable solution that should be quoted by the Technical Sales Support team.
• Keep informed on technology trends in the cable industry.
• Determine how the cable solution will need to develop over time.
• Define the market requirements for new product developments / upgrades.
• Support TSS as the company’s senior authority on cable system designs.
• Produce support material for sales / TSS to use with customers.
Main Tasks
The Cable Solutions Architect will have the following key responsibilities:
• Development of cable architecture. The jobholder will take responsibility for defining the cable architecture that will recommend to the cable market. This will also involve maintaining an up to date understanding of industry’s technology developments so as to define how the architecture will need to develop over 2 – 3 years. From this architecture the jobholder will define any new product developments / upgrades that are required and work with Product Management to produce the Marketing Requirements Specifications.
• Support the sales efforts of the business development and TSS teams. Here it is anticipated that the job holder will:
• Engage in cable architecture discussions with potential customers.
• Make presentations to customers covering the cable solution and associated products
• Define and justify the recommended solutions for specific customer needs.
• Act as lead Architect for major bids in support ofthe TSS team.
• Produce sales support documentation such as white papers, solutions guides, applications notes etc.
Personal Specification
The Cable Solutions Architect will have the following attributes:
• Educated to Degree level or equivalent
• A technology leader with ability to grasp complex customer requirements and translate them into clear technical solutions.
• Ability to articulate and explain complex issues both in written form and orally.
• Extensive experience of leading broadcast projects in the cable industry is required. This experience will have been gained either working with an operator, a equipment vendor, a systems integration or consulting company.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships with other people.
• Experience within a sales environment.
• Strong communications skills.
• Ability to travel worldwide as necessary.
