GUI Team Leader - Development Systems
Role
Working closely with other technical leads within the debugger group, you will be responsible for leading a team to develop the GUI of a Debugger. Leading your team, you will be responsible for delivering the feature sets assigned to your team and will need to manage both long and short–term development requirements over several releases of the product.
As a key member of the debugger engineering team, you will also be expected to contribute to the overall technical roadmap of both the debugger and its user interface. You will also be expected to make significant contributions to the definition and running of the processes used by the development team.
This is a technical “hands-on” role and the successful candidate should expect to be writing development software in addition to line managing members of the team.
The role will involve coordination and active participation in some or all of the following activities:
Detailed reviews of documents such as product and engineering requirement specifications
Implementation of the features defined in these documents.
Development and implementation of suitable validation strategies based on these documents.
Responsibility for setting and agreeing implementation time-scales and then ensuring they are adhered to.
Line management of the team.
Consultation with other technical leads within the debug team to influence the future roadmap of the debugger.
Consultation with the appropriate product, project and engineering managers.
Consultation with the product support teams to address customer specific needs.
The successful candidate will report to the debugger engineering manager but will be expected to work with minimal supervision whilst working proactively with other technical leads. This will involve occasional travel to the other development sites within the UK.
Required attributes
The successful candidate
must have 8+ years of software development experience
must be fluent in C and C++.
must have extensive knowledge of at least one of Qt, MFC, or Motif , with Qt being preferred.
must have extensive experience of either developing embedded software debugging tools or an IDE.
must be able to demonstrate clear team leadership skills.
must be able to demonstrate a clear knowledge of development and validation processes.
must be able to work in and contribute to, a technically challenging environment.
must have a good understanding and experience of cross platform GUI development.
must have an understanding of GUI standards/look and feel.
should have experience of the application space, including an understanding of embedded software development.
should have some experience of supporting legacy code, including re-factoring.
should have development experience of producing or extending a componentised, user extensible application framework.
may have previous experience of direct customer contact.
