GROUND SEGMENT SYSTEMS ENGINEER - Ref. 2527

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Responsible for overall management overall Ground System AIV (Assembly, Integration, Validation) of the Galileo Satellite control segment (GCS) and GMS subcontractors in support of AIV activities associated with deployment and integration and ground segment elements at the selected sites.

• Prepare and Manage -

• Subcontractors in support of the GCS preparation of AIV system integration plans

• Ground Segment AIV system integration level plans including acceptance and verification planning.

• Ground Segment Integration system test procedures.

• System tools activities required for the verification processes.

• Conduct system testing and reporting.

• Provide contributions toward the definition, specification and design of Galileo satellite Ground Segment operational requirements and design and development planning.

• Prepare documents including requirements, technical specifications and procedure using specific tools such as DOORS.

• Perform the operations activities over all mission phases which includes activities associated with LEOP, In-Orbit Test, flight dynamics, automated operations and satellite analysis

• Work abroad at the designated satellite control centre locations for periods up to 3 weeks.

EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Essential


• Minimum 2.1 Honours Degree in Engineering or Physics with 2 years experience with satellite control systems and/ or satellite ground stations.

• Experience in one or more of the areas of satellite and ground control operations, procedure preparation and validation, mission planning and simulation.

• Knowledge of operations, satellite control systems and operations tools.

• Good analytical, communication, presentation, IT skills.

• Self-motivated with good communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience to work on commercial satellite projects and ESA satellite control standards.

• Language skills - French, German, Italian or Spanish

• Good written and oral presentation skills.

• Able to work in a team.
