Senior Validation Engineer, Development Systems

This role will involve coordination and active participation in some or all of the following activities:



Detailed reviews of documents such as Marketing and Engineering Requirement Specifications



Development of suitable validation strategies and plans based on these documents



Consultation with the appropriate Product, Project, Engineering and Managers



Consultation with the product support teams to develop Use Case scenarios for validation



Validation of the Visualisation Component of the RealView Debugger on all supported platforms



Developing Automated Test Strategies for the product.



Checking product documentation.



Checking defects have been fixed and validated before a release.



Recording and reporting of all test results.



Responsibility for setting and agreeing validation time-scales and then ensuring they are adhered to.



Mentoring or coaching other members of the team as is necessary.



Line management of junior validation team members.



The successful candidate will report to the Validation Team Leader but will be expected to work with minimal supervision whilst working proactively with the appropriate development engineering technical leads.?

Required attributes
The successful candidate:



Must at least 4 years experience of testing or developing a GUI based application, ideally an IDE or stand alone Debugger



Must possess the ability to translate user requirements into formal test cases then executing those test cases



Must be capable of leading a small team of Validation Engineers



Must be experienced in the introduction and implementation of GUI Automation Tools such as SilkTest, QARun or TestPartner



Must be a Test Professional with at least an ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing and with a demonstrable knowledge of Risk Based Testing.



Must have a working knowledge of the ‘V’ Model type developments and where testing fits into this model.



Must be detail orientated and have the ability to work under pressure, as part of a small team.



Must have a working knowledge and be able to test software on Windows, Solaris UNIX and Red Hat Linux host platforms.



Must communicate in a professional, clear and effective manner, to both internal and external customers, suppliers and partners.
