Applications Engineer - Hardware

Job Description
The role of the Hardware Applications Engineer within the Applications Engineering Group is to provide specialist knowledge on the usage of products - including issues regarding behavior, characterization, design-in, implementation and test.
Responsibilities
Work closely with other engineers, both within the Applications Engineering group and also within ARM's development groups to obtain an excellent knowledge of products and to provide input on future developments.
Provide customers with the knowledge they require for designing products into their new designs.
Mentor and assist the newer Applications Engineers within the group in the production of comprehensive responses to customer enquiries received via email, telephone or face to face meetings.
Provide in depth technical training on processors to customers located around the world.
Provide assistance in the evaluation of customer designs and sample devices.
Provide customer on-site support.
Generate and review of new product documentation, such as technical reference manuals, training material, application notes, frequently asked question lists and example HDL code.
Critical Success Factors
Education
Bachelor or Masters degree, in electrical engineering or computer science ideally, although other science graduates would be considered if they have relevant experience.
Experience
At least four years experience in two or more of the following:
ASIC design flow from the initial concept through to device manufacture, covering design, implementation, simulation, test and debug.
Experience of discrete logic, PLD or FPGA design and debug.
Experience of VHDL and/or Verilog, preferably coupled with Synopsys synthesis.
Ability to use in-house and proprietary CAD tools to investigate, debug, replicate and resolve device related technical questions.
Knowledge of co-simulation
A good understanding of processor hardware, interrupt and abort event sequences, pipelining, typical system configurations etc., would be beneficial.
