Senior Highways Engineer - Basingstoke - £35,455 - £43,875

Our Client is a large, well established Infrastructure Service provider within the public sector, offering a diverse and integrated range of highways and transportation solutions. They require a Senior Highways Engineer to assist the Highways Team Leader in managing the resources in the Highways Team to deliver the agreed outcomes for highways schemes.
Duties will include:

Assisting the Highways Team Leader in ensuring that the Highways Team have adequate training and resources
Managing external resources used by the Highways Team
Agreeing the briefs, programmes and budgets with the Highways Team Leader
Preparing designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables for highways schemes
Allocating tasks to other members of the Highways Team and monitoring progress
Monitoring the designs produced to ensure they meet the design briefs, and expected levels of technical excellence
Seeking innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them
Ensuring that the quality system is actively applied to all highways schemes

The successful candidate:

Has membership of an appropriate professional institution (ICE or IHT)
Is registered with the Engineering Council to at least CEng level
Has had 5 days of CPD in last 12 months including 3 related to Highway Engineering
Possesses basic Project Management Skills
Has an understanding of H&S Requirements related to Highway Engineering
Has broad knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation
Is competent in exercising the Designer’s obligations of CDM
Has a CSCS Supervisor (Gold) Card
Has an understanding of Environmental Requirements of Highway schemes
Has basic knowledge of Quality Management and an in-depth understanding of QMS
Has a relevant vocational qualification (MEng / BEng / BSc / HNC and HND or equivalent)
Possesses detailed knowledge of design codes (DMRB / MCDHW etc) relevant to Highway Engineering
Knowledge of the use of computer design tools
Appropriate recent experience in Highway Engineering
