Commercial Manager

COMMERCIAL MANAGER – Abu Dhabi, UAE - Ref: 3931

A leading construction group based in Dubai, is going through a period of rapid growth and is extending its operations into Abu Dhabi. They wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person in the position of Commercial Manager, to be based in the Area Office in Abu Dhabi.

Overall Mission: Reporting to the Area General Manager, the Commercial Manager will enable and empower Commercial Section staff to efficiently and effectively perform their defined tasks within the Quantity Surveying and Costing Department. Key Responsibilities will include the following:

Contracts - Overview all contractual correspondence directed to relevant parties; reporting on financial and contractual project related matters; joint responsibility for commercial outcome of projects.

Strategic - Overall strategy of ensuring a professional approach in all commercial, financial and contractual aspects whilst maintaining the Company’s reputation with its Clients; engender trust and confidence from other senior management, Clients and their representatives; maximising returns whilst minimising conflicts.

Commercial - Negotiation, preparation, pre-awards and monitoring, post-awards and monitoring, post award Subcontract, C.A.R, Insurance and Bond related matters; overview agreement and finalisation of rates for varied works; preparation and overview of Claims; compilation of cost information for Monthly Reports; follow-up Payment Certificates with Consultant and Client, up to Client’s Accounts Section, (notification then to be given to Accounts for action); preparation of consolidated Cost-to-Complete and Cash Flows.

Planning - Extension of Time (E.O.T) preparation/overview; overview Contract Programmes.

Tendering - Tender compilation for General Manager’s review and submission of Tender.

General - Fostering team spirit between other departments and within each project team; general well-being of all Commercial Staff.

Qualifications and Experience – Graduate, preferably Chartered Quantity Surveyor, with a minimum of 20 years experience primarily with civil engineering contractors; a minimum of 5 years experience at Commercial Manager level; familiar with FIDIC conditions of contract; previous experience in the Gulf desirable; computer literate and conversant with modern scheduling, reporting and progress analysing techniques as well as QM and EHS systems and control procedures.

Employment Terms - Unlimited duration contract on a single or family accompanied basis with basic salary paid monthly in UAE Dirhams (pegged to the US$).
