QA/QC Manager

QA/QC MANAGER – Abu Dhabi, UAE - Ref: 3930

A leading construction group based in Dubai, is going through a period of rapid growth and is extending its operations into Abu Dhabi. They wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person in the position of QA/QC Manager, to be based in the Area Office in Abu Dhabi.

Overall Mission: Reporting to the Area General Manager, the QA/QC Manager will assume responsibility for the coordination, preparation, documentation, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of a formal and cost effective Quality System in line with the Company Quality Policy and the current version of ISO 9001. Also to develop and implement new systems and procedures to improve organisational efficiency and quality of operations throughout the Company.

Key Responsibilities will include the following:
1. Establishing a Quality System throughout the Company in line with the current ISO 9001 standard by working together with all departments and personnel involved.
2. Provide Management Representative’s function in implementing ISO 9001 Quality System within the Company.
3. Motivation and training in the documentation of the Quality System to all personnel involved in the effective implementation of the System.
4. Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the implementation of the Quality Systems with General Manager periodically to identify and implement improvement to the business.
5. Ensuring that the Department Heads identify training needs of personnel working under them and organise training to be conducted periodically to suit the needs.
6. Planning, organising and conducting internal, external, surveillance and follow up audits for verifying effective implementation of the Quality System, Contract Quality Plans, reporting to the management and ensuring that the systems’ defects revealed by the audits are resolved by the appropriate Department Heads.
7. Assessing the needs for each new project and developing Contract Quality Control Plans and assigning QA/QC staff on full time or visiting basis.
8. Evaluating and reporting Quality Costs to the management using statistical techniques.
9. Effective supervision of QA/QC department staff assigned to various sections and project sites.
10. Providing support to the Commercial and Estimating Departments in preparation of Technical Bids and Pre-Qualification Documents.
11. Conducting audits on suppliers and sub-contractors where required.
12. Updating the Quality System Manual and the procedures to meet the current ISO 9001 requirements and certification to the new standard.
13. Conduct ongoing review of the systems within the Company as per management’s requirements, to develop and implement new and improved MIS and IT systems.
14. Contribute to the development of an Integrated Management System.
15. Provide technical support and compilation of technical documentation for Company Registration with Statutory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience – Graduate Civil Engineer, with a minimum of 15 years experience, primarily with civil engineering contractors. Should have 5 years experience at this level and be certified for internal audit purposes. Previous Gulf experience would be an advantage.

Employment Terms - Unlimited duration contract on a single or family accompanied basis with basic salary paid monthly in UAE Dirhams (pegged to the US$).
