Our Client was formed in 1992 from a requirement to provide UK MOD Defence Estates with a multi disciplined facilities management service. Today our client employs over 1200 people and provides its customers with a single source FM solution which provides results quickly and without undue complication, anywhere in the world.
Our client is seeking a Projects & Works Manager with a building and construction background for its site at Basrah Airport, Southern Iraq. This is a 23 month contract which is extendable by agreement.
This position is based at the UK MOD site at Basrah Airport and the successful candidate will be responsible for heading up a Projects and Works Team within the secure defence confines of a military camp.
Report to the ISP Manager you will manage and co-ordinate Major and Minor Works Team. You will ensure works are carried out in accordance with contract requirements and adhere to all legislation regarding health and safety and security.
You will co-ordinate works on site, manage the delivery of work packages under your control and will liaise with Commercial Manager to ensure works are progressed within set targets.
You will inspect engineering aspects of maintenance or new works e.g. reinforcement,
concrete, structural, steel etc, as well as mechanical and electrical based works.
You will manage the design requirement through liaising with the UK off site support team
where required to co-ordinate services for individual works tasks.
Finally you will ensure works are carried out to the quality procedures manual, ensure the
inspection of works stages as completed and will ensure a final inspection of completed
works carried out before passing works over to the and Skills:
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer and be an accomplished Construction Project Manager.
Working for a UK based International Company you must be familiar and have experience of UK Standards and Regulations.
You should have experience of managing large projects and working with a demanding client with complex needs.
Experience of working in post conflict, remote sites or in other arduous environments would be ideal as would experience of working with the UK MOD on overseas Defence Contracts.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Good communication skills are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence. This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Projects and Works Manager looking for something different.
The basic salary will be around £74k and is tax free. All food accommodation, meals, uniforms and emergency medical care are provided free of charge.
You will work on a rotation basis of 10 weeks on and 3 weeks off. There is an End of Tour bonus payment of £6k which is also tax free and is paid annually and is based on annual performance. Mobilization, De- Mobilization and r and r flights back to home base are provided by our client.
