Field Service Engineer


Job Title
FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

The Roll
Field Quality Services [FQS] are responsible for the provision of high quality after sales technical support. Department members will be required to work with customers, dealers and site engineers to resolve technical problems both in a hands-on capacity and through a telephone helpdesk facility.

This role will have split responsibility. The job holder will be expected to maintain the role of Field Service Engineer through the work on site and through work on the Helpdesk.

The job holder will also be expected to assist in the production and delivery of training programmes for external and internal customers as and when required.

To work within a team of Regional Field Service Engineers dealing the successful resolution of technical service queries from customers, dealers and site engineers.

This service will be provided via the Helpdesk facility and through site visits.

To deliver high quality training programmes to both the client base and to employees of the company, at various locations as and when required.

To liaise with dealers, installers and on-site engineer to monitor our level of after sales support; to liaise with site engineers to assist with trouble shooting and commissioning.

Maintain good communication with customers with regard to ongoing investigative work.

To provide any necessary literature including Operating and Maintenance manuals.

To report on the product and monitor the reliability of the product and ease of installation.

To ensure that all activities comply with the company's ISO 14001 environmental management system.

Risk assessment of his department's actions impacting on the remainder of the company.

To ensure that all activities comply with health and safety requirements, including changes in legislation regarding the handling of refrigerants, and those of accepted good trade practice.

To undertake any training deemed by the company to be necessary to the effective execution of the duties of the company.

The Candidate
Education
A good grading at GCSE level in core subjects: Maths and English.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Airconditioning and Refrigeration.

Experience
Experience in a mix of manufacturer's air conditioning systems [VRV and Chillers].
Proven track record of hands-on service and maintenance, together with familiarity of helpdesk support is advantageous.
Previous experience of direct customer liaison would be advantageous.

Skills Profile:
Excellent communication skills [face to face and by telephone].
Team player is essential.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of team.
Good analytical skills.
Ability to prioritise own workload.
Flexible and confident individual who will be able to work in a rapidly changing environment (growth market).
Computer literate - Microsoft products [training will be given].

Travel
There is a fundamental need for the job holder to travel within the United Kingdom for the fulfilment of this role therefore a valid UK driving licence is an essential requirement.

Up to £30,000 + Benefits
