595/CO2214MS Interim Clerk of Works - Building & Construction (6 months) / Iraq

Our Client was formed in 1992 from a requirement to provide UK MOD Defence Estates with a multi disciplined facilities management service. Today our client employs over 1200 people and provides its customers with a single source FM solution which provides results quickly and without undue complication, anywhere in the world.

Our client is seeking a fully qualified Clerk of Works for its site at Basrah Airport, Southern Iraq. This is on a 6 month contract with prospects of an extension.

This position is based at the UK MOD site at Basrah Airport and the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a £2.5M construction project. The key objective will be to manage the contractor ensuring they meet the work specification within the cost and time and Skills:

The successful candidate will be an accomplished Clerk of Works or Construction Project Manager with their practical experience being supported by a technical qualification i.e. ONC or equivalent status.

Experience of working in post conflict, remote sites or in other arduous environments would be ideal.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines. Some Arabic language skills would be useful.

Good communication skills are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Clerk of Works looking for something different.

The basic salary is negotiable and is tax free. All food accommodation, meals and emergency medical care are provided free of charge.

Please note this is initially a 6 month contract with prospects of an extension.
