Senior Architect

Established and expanding Architects based in St Albans, Hertforshire are seeking a Senior Project Architects.

Technical Requirement

• Have a passion for good design and the construction process.

• Be registered with the ARB and maintain membership in the RIBA.

• Experience and understanding of Statutory Application processes including the preparation and submission of drawing packages for the following:
Planning Consent, Advertisement Consent, Listed Building Consent, Building Regulations and Building Warrant Approvals. Fire Officer, Trading Standards, Environmental Health. Liaising with Local Authorities and monitoring and negotiating successful approvals.

• Experience and understanding of CDM Regulations, including the preparation of Risk Assessments and Risk Registers.

• Experience and understanding of Health & Safety Legislation.

• Experience of taking briefs from clients and liaising with clients to develop briefs.

• Experienced in contract administration, assisting in the co ordination of construction drawing package and written specifications.

• Assisting with site construction problems and design changes as they arise.

• Assist in co ordination of construction drawing package and written specifications.

• Thorough working knowledge of contract law, current building construction practice and detailing including current building materials and their application and contract law.

• Research and investigation into new building products and techniques as necessary.

• Carry out measured site and building and condition surveys if required.

• Understand the fee process and cost of work produced

• Undertaking structured CPD.

• Ensure that you keep your ARB/other memberships updated.


Communication Skills

• Possess a flexible and dedicated approach to working in a team environment.

• Enjoy working with others and managing team members.

• Be confident in communicating with other design consultants, clients and contractors and other employees.

• Chair design and site meetings on behalf of the client and issue minutes within seven days.



Skills/Knowledge

• Knowledge and awareness of current regulations including:
The Building Regulations
The CDM Regulations
The Disability Discrimination Act
Good Building Practice.
Contract Law, JCT and other.

• Carry out Risk Assessments to comply with the CDM Regulations.

• AutoCAD 2000I or AutoCAD LT2000I useful.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel useful.

• Adobe Photoshop and similar packages would be useful.
