LUC-SS/B - Senior Surveyor / Buyer

Our Client is a privately owned company that specialises exclusively in developing attractive, purpose-built retirement apartments for people who have retired – and are ready to start living. They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Surveyor / Buyer to their team

The Main Purpose of the Senior Surveyor / Buyer: To be responsible for the financial control of two to three contracts from inception to completion in accordance with Company Policies. This includes monitoring costs against the approved construction budget, sending out enquiries, placing subcontract/material orders, making payments and agreeing final accounts.

The ideal Senior Surveyor will be responsible for the supervision, training and motivation of Surveyors / Buyers. The Senior Surveyor is also required to give some guidance and instruction to site management and other staff concerned with sub-contract procurement.

The ideal Senior Surveyor would have a good understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation. They must also have relevant experience in a surveying, buying or estimating field, at management or supervisory level. Negotiation skills are required in this position.

Experience in taking off quantities from drawings and preparing bills of quantities using standard surveying techniques and terminology is also desirable. The ideal Candidate also must have extensive use of the VDU requires a work station assessment to be carried out on a regular basis in accordance with health and safety (Display screen equipment) Regulations. They must have qualifications of HND or equivalent as a minimum and attendance of courses and/or training in contract conditions will be necessary. Personal requirements, self motivation is essential as is the ability to prioritise workloads. There will be a certain amount of mental stress in the concentrated and demanding work required to meet deadlines.

Conditions Of Work - Where practicable the Surveyor / Buyer is required to make at least one visit to each of their sites per week as well as visiting sites of surveyors under their supervision as required

Normal hours of work will be 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Some additional unpaid overtime may be necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the position

The salary is negotiable and will depend upon the experience and ability of the individual candidate.
