Housing Support Officer/Project Worker

Due to the strength of our experience and expertise in social care and housing recruitment, we are currently providing specialist recruitment support to both the private and the public sector.
We currently seek urgently, highly experienced housing support officers/project workers for immediate contract opportunities based in South West London, East and North London. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of a year experience within this field to start as soon as possible.Salary is open for negotiation and will be based on experience.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF POST:
To provide a hostel, housing management and tenancy support service to residents.
KEY TASKS include:
To be responsible for the security of the building and the safety of residents. To do regular house rounds.
To report maintenance repairs and to call out emergency contractors when necessary.
To ensure new residents’ private space is clean and tidy before letting and provide advice to residents on the cleanliness of their bed space.
To assess referrals according to agreed policies and procedures.
To arrange lettings and to ensure the occupancy agreement and all relevant policies and procedures are explained to new residents.
To maintain up-to-date casework files.
To deal with arrears promptly and in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
To complete incident record sheets and to provide evidence in court where necessary. To intervene in disputes between residents when appropriate.
To be a key worker to a group of residents, to assess their housing, health and support requirements and jointly agree strategies to enable these needs to be addressed.
To offer advice and support to enable residents to achieve maximum benefit from their stay and successfully maintain their accommodation.
To refer residents to in-house and external specialist services where appropriate.
To give welfare rights advice and act as an advocate when dealing with the Benefits Agency and Local Authority
To advise residents on matters of personal hygiene where necessary.
To individually assess residents for resettlement and help residents to move into more suitable accommodation.
