MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the effective management of the purchasing, supplier quality and material control functions to ensure that the department is well motivated and capable of meeting the requirements of the business.
Prepare and managed departmental budget, encouraging creativity and innovation to improve efficiencies and drive down operational costs.
Identification of cost down/cost avoidance initiatives for bought out material and components and non-production overhead expenditure.
Deploying company and department kaizen targets and objectives, involving all members and promoting teamwork, to ensure key business and departmental objectives are achieved.
To identify and regulate departmental manpower requirements ensuring that all colleagues are provided with adequate training and support to achieve high levels of competency and performance.
Managing Operations
Prepare departmental plans to support departmental kaizen targets and objectives.
Agree key performance indicators with departmental staff in line with kaizen plans; support the development of individual plans and review progress regularly.
Control Departmental expenditure in line with budget allocation.
Control departmental manpower, absenteeism and overtime within budget.
To produce formal monthly reports in relation to kaizen targets and objectives and present monthly at M.D. meeting.
Develop an environment that encourages commitment, creativity, participation, ownership, achievement and recognition.
Continually evaluate the business area for opportunities for further improvement/Kaizen.
MANAGING PEOPLE
To co-ordinate the activities of all staff in the promotion of teamwork.
Set standards with a passion for talent building by interviewing and selecting all new appointments and internal promotion to your team allied with the support of the Human Resources Department.
Responsible for ensuring that all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their role.
In conjunction with the Human Resource Officer of the area, organized the appraisal scheme (PDR) and arrange performance review with colleagues.
MANAGIN INFORMATION/COMMUNICATION
To communicate as required, using whatever tools and methods are necessary to demonstrate a professional commitment to keeping colleagues, customers and shareholders informed.
To discuss and analyse data provided by team members with the Senior Managers, to support ideas for continuous improvement activities and help produce an implementation plan, giving the members the necessary support and resource to ensure successful completion.
MAINTAINING COMPANY VALUES
To understand the implications of the Health & Safety at Work Act and consider the practical plans to be taken to secure a safe working environment t.
To ensure all practices involving Environmental Protection Act adhere strictly to the legislation requirements.
To identify areas of risk and organize direction with risk assessments where necessary an implement/propose remedial action.
To encourage a culture and philosophy to identify and address issues before they become grievance or disciplinary matters.
To understand the disciplinary and grievance procedure and use inline with best practice to assist with business performance.
To promote a philosophy with housekeeping within your areas and maintain in a satisfactory condition demonstrating excellence with KPS and 5’s programme.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally HND or degree qualified or equivalent and member of CIPS
Minimum 3 years experience of working within a Purchasing management/logistics role.
A high level of communication and motivational skill and a well developed analytical approach to problem solving.
Must have a proven track record in effective commercial negotiation and a good understanding of business law and purchasing code of conduct.
Some knowledge of Kaizen, JIT, SMED, Lean manufacturing would be advantageous.
Ideally should have Excel, Word and PowerPoint knowledge.
