Job Purpose:
To provide breakdown cover, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance across all factory assembly and process areas to allow Manufacturing functions to operate with optimum efficiency.

Principal Areas of Responsibility:
To fault find and interrogate PLCs and to reposition robots
Programme, service and repair robots including robot controlled vision systems.
To create, read and interpret machine drawings where necessary.
To work towards improvements in the production process (Kaizen).
To contribute to machine design where required
To implement cost reduction ideas developed by the use of such techniques as Kaizen, showing awareness of Value Analysis / Value Engineering standards (VAVE).
Adjust and set up precision cutting equipment.
Carry out preventative maintenance.
Supporting set-up time reduction projects.
To support shift-based activities by working outside normal hours as the project requires.
Modify servomotor positions.
To work towards personal development and team goals, including KPIs
To ensure that all activities are in compliance with Company and Health and Safety standards, with specific knowledge of COSHH, risk assessments, work in confined spaces and at height, DUSS.
Environmental awareness including spillage and disaster recovery.

Plant Machinery and Equipment includes:
Injection moulding machines
Presses
CNC bending machines and lathes.
Core assembly.
Fin and tube assembly.
Assembly conveyors.
Test equipment.
Electrostatic paint plant and flux processes.
Pneumatics – cassettes / SMC.
Hydraulics.
Hoists / cherry pickers.

PLCs include:
Allen Bradley SLC 500, Logix 5000
Mitsubishi
Omron
Keyence

Robots include:
4 and 6 axis DENSO robots
Motoman
Panasonic
Star

Qualifications:
Electrical: Mechanical split 70:30 (20% of working day involves PLC work)
Full time-served Apprenticeship
Preferably HNC qualified.
The minimum standard of ONC / City and Guilds in Engineering or similar would be acceptable in a candidate with a high level of relevant work experience.

Experience:
Proven experience in plant engineering / maintenance, ideally in the automotive industry or in a high volume / high complexity JIT environment. Ideally the candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of Kaizen / Continuous Improvement techniques. Candidates should be familiar with QS9000 standards and PC literate.
