Location: South West Midlands
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To plan, organise and co-ordinate the work of a team, to ensure that the results are achieved to satisfy internal / external customer requirements both now and in the future.

Managing Operations

A. To ensure that work is organised to meet delivery requirements, adopting KPS standard work principles.

B. To ensure that labour is available - in line with current task time/manning level/budget

C. To co-ordinate the activities of the team promoting the synergy of teamwork.

D. To ensure that work is planned to meet internal and external customer delivery requirements. (Customer 1st)

E. To liaise with Quality Engineers with the implementation of Quality related issues and projects

F. To collect and analyse data provided by team members and discuss with the shift Leader to support and create ideas for continuous improvement and implementation plans

G. To support, promote and implement the company’s 6S, PPS KPS and KDS polices

H. Adopt and Implement practice of standard work within all manufacturing area

• 100% achievement of daily target with budget applying KPS standard work
• Evidence control of holiday/other absence and low labour turnover
• Evidence the ability to use only the resource required and realign with Build plan each month
• Achieve / appreciate the demands of internal and external customer requirements and provide / deliver as requested
• Evidence of project support with project plans etc
• Evidence with actual data / documents tools and techniques used for Problem solving (Fishbone / mind maps etc)
• Evidence of 6S audit reports and action plans. Evidence of best practice with colleague KDS portfolios
• Evidence of actual Standard work practice which can be audited from operational / instructional and flow diagram

Managing People


I. To manufacture with current resource levels and within budget. To manufacture product/provide service to customer in line with defined Quality standard

J. Ensure all colleagues are trained to job guides with correct use of KDS and portfolio.

K. In partnership with Shift leader identify and implement development plans for colleagues (within and outside of KDS training)

L. Ensure that records are kept to evidence development activity

M. To raise immediately with the Shift leader any potential grievances before they become an major issue

N. To understand the grievance and disciplinary polices and procedures and support as necessary the Shift leader and Human Resources Dept

• Target achieved within budget and KPI
• Team trained and cross skilled to cover all business eventualities and evidenced within KDS assessments
• Evidence of audited portfolios and (as required) separate development plans for specific colleagues
• Evidence of development – Completed job guides, portfolios and training matrix’s etc
• Good team working with either no issue raised or issues closed before formal escalation
• Knowledge of polices and understanding of application and purpose







Managing Information/Communication

O. To communicate on a regular basis with the Shift Leader to ensure maintenance plans and quality concerns are all included in the daily/weekly/monthly plans

P. To produce and analyse absenteeism, scrap and production audit records on a weekly basis and implement the necessary remedial action for Shift Leader

Q. To produce reports as required on production figures, scrap and uptime etc in readiness for presentation and discussion with Shift leader

• Minimum levels of down time versus 100% up time. Regular updates given (oral / in writing or meetings) to shift Leader and evidenced with data
• Evidence of timely analysis with detailed reporting of KPI and proposals for remedial action
• Evidence of data control with commercial understanding and ability to achieve / exceed budget or production plan capability and targets

Maintaining Company Values

R. To understand the implications of Health & Safety at Work Act and consider the practical plans to be taken to secure a safe working environment.

S. To ensure all practices involving the Environmental Protection Act adhere strictly to the legislation and procedural requirements

T. To have knowledge of risk assessment and liase with Shift Leader and Health & Safety Officer as necessary

U. To understand the disciplinary and grievance procedure and carry out interviews within the laid down procedure, in conjunction with the Human Resource Department

V. Maintain to level of 6's

• Adherence of Health & Safety Regulations with proactive approach and no lost time accidents
• Awareness of environmental issues and the costs associated with non compliance
• Able and evidence ability to carry out risk assessment effectively
• High performing team with low level of grievance and disciplinary activity
• Achievement of 6's

Qualifications

ideally HNC qualified or equivalent

Hands on experience of working within a Manufacturing and/or dynamic environment.

A high level of communication and motivational skills and a well developed analytical approach to problem solving.

Knowledge of TPS, Kaizen, JIT, SMED, Lean manufacturing desirable

Excel, word and PowerPoint knowledge highly desirable

Some supervisory experience is preferable
