Substance misuse practitioner

Experience prescribing substitutes for class A drugs is essential. Experience titrating drug clients is essential. A Nursing qualification would be a benefit but is not required.



A local substance misuse service is looking for an experienced drug and alcohol practitioner to take on a case load of clients using class A drugs that are in need of stabilization through the use of prescribed substitutes such as methadone or subutex. The role will involve carrying out initial triage assessments followed by care planning and one to one key work sessions to assess current usage and titrating to establish a suitable dose to stabalise the clients use. An ability to recognise withdrawl symptoms and overdose symptoms will be required as well as the ability to spot on top usage with a view to correcting doses appropriately.
