Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client are a leading UK defence electronics organisation who have over 2000 employees and an annual turnover of £330M. Their electronic systems facility in Scotland, has over 40 years experience in the design, development and manufacture of a wide range of integrated electronic assembles, systems and sub-systems. Specialising in markets where integrity and reliability are critical, this business unit provides a full electronic manufacturing service for both the commercial and defence sectors. The company is able to provide a complete turnkey capability from design through to manufacture

About the role

The position of Senior Mechanical Engineer is to design and develop the next generation of Control section for a guided weapon. Ensuring performance reliability and cost targets through the design and manufacturing cycles.

Knowledge

Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of:

· 3D CAD literate - any of ProE, Catia, Solid Works, Solid Edge.
· Principles of drives and controls
· Minimum first order stress analysis
· Materials - metals, plastics, composites.
· Manufacturing processes - e.g. machining, forging, casting, moulding
· Manufacturing processes - e.g. assembly, wiring, testing, tooling
· Control theory and its practical application
· Computer math literate - any of Excel, MathCad, Matlab/Simulink
· Application of mathematical modelling, computer based analysis
· Basics of circuit design
· Motion and dynamics analysis
· Electronic devices, sensors
· Basic signal processing and comms.

· Degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical Engineering,Mechatronics or equivalent
· Knowledge of in industrial assembly environment
· Knowledge of design application or integration of electromechanical assemblies and controls
· Hands on experience in design and development of mechanisms and/or actuators, motion devices. Analysis
· Requirements and specifications analysis and generation, reportage, cost analysis.
