We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and influential individual with a strong background in process safety and risk management to join our UK operations and can further the development and growth of our businesses. Interested candidates should have a good understanding of the technical and management issues fundamental to process safety and risk management in the refining, petrochemical, chemical, metal or oil and gas processing industries. In addition, the candidate should have an interest in business development and have good organisational and communication skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This is a combined commercial and technical role in an established consultancy. Candidates will be operating in a consultancy environment and will be managing and developing their own leads, marketing and often covering multiple client projects. The core competencies include:
• Develop and manage existing and new client relationships to meet business requirements and targets.
• Identification and development of new business opportunities.
• Producing project deliverables on time and to budget.
• Able to liaise with & motivate colleagues effectively to reach project & company goals.
• Represent the company in technical meetings with customers and third parties.
• Scope consultancy projects and prepare commercial proposals.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of standards, methods, data and the use of appropriate software.
• Review work and reports for technical & grammatical quality.
• Deliver technical papers at national and international conferences.
• To manage, assess, deliver, monitor projects and consultancy in most of the following areas:
o Hazard Identification techniques such as PHA and HAZOP
o Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessment
o Safety Report / Case Preparation & Management
o ALARP Assessments
o ATEX 137 / DSEAR / Hazardous Area Classification
o Consequence & Vulnerability Analysis (toxic, fire and explosion modeling)
o IEC 61508 SIL Classification
o Functional Safety Assessments
o Fault and Event Tree Analysis
o Energy Economy & Environmental Implications
o SMS Audits and Implementation
o Human Factors & Competency Assessments
Qualifications & Experience:
• A bachelors degree or higher in an engineering or scientific discipline or chartered or working towards becoming chartered with an appropriate institution.
• Proven experience of working in one or more of the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical or Metal Industries in an operational, design or maintenance role for at least five years or have been operating as a Process Safety / Risk Management Consultant in any of these industries for at least five years.
• Knowledge of mainline consequence, CFD and risk analysis software packages & their technical background.
• Experience of giving technical presentations and managing commercial negotiations.
• Excellent project management skills
• You will demonstrate a good level of technical innovation and a proven track record of relating to clients at all levels within an organization.
• You will need to demonstrate excellent business development skills in both an individual and team environment.
• Proficiency in languages would be an advantage.

Candidates should also show commitment to the achievement of results, be client focused and have excellent written and oral communication skills through the medium of English. They will have a sound technical base, be IT literate, self motivated, with good observational skills, have drive and show initiative.
This position will encompass UK, European and International travel with associated on-site work. Please note that security clearance may be needed for some project work.

Salary level is negotiable dependent on skills & experience. An option to be “Home Based” may be considered for this role.
