Alcohol Worker in the Criminal Justice System


The successful applicant will have two years experience of working with substance misuse clients and or mental health clients. They will also possess knowledge of harm minimisation, relapse prevention and of motivational interviewing techniques. Familiarity of a police or court setting is essential as is previous experience in key-working and of carrying a caseload. It would of benefit to have a qualification in counselling, social work, alcohol studies or be a registered mental health nurse (RMN). The role itself involves working in the criminal justice system (CJS) by supporting clients through the system. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting initial assessments and developing care plans for the client, before referring them to treatment and after care in a structured setting. The post also involves liaising with other services to make sure clients get properly dealt with and receive the care and treatment they need. The post is ideal for someone who has previous experience of such a role and who is a team player and an effective communicator.
