Embedded Software Engineer

Enigma People Solutions seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to work in an exciting application area within a strongly established and growing company that offers an excellent working environment. There is the opportunity to improve existing products and have a significant impact on new product development. The role offers a hands-on software development option to someone who is passionate about iterative and agile development. Career development over the next 2-5 years offers the potential to progress to senior software engineer.

You will have an excellent and relevant first degree (e.g. First or 2:1 Software Engineering, Computer Science, Maths and Computing or Electronic Engineering) or experience equivalent.

The successful candidate will be a committed professional that gets the job done on time and to high standards. You must be comfortable with working flexible hours and be able to demonstrate:
• Good problem solving and communication skills
• Strong quality ethic, “test first” approach to development
• Ability to quickly learn new skills and familiarise with existing code bases
• Ability to work well in a team environment

Essential Skills
• Good interpersonal skills for communicating with team members
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent embedded C Programming skills
• Real Time Firmware development for embedded platforms
• Familiar with development toolchains and debuggers in Linux environment
• Knowledge and use of Linux OS
• Use of Configuration management tools
• Object oriented programming
• Developing multi-threaded software
• Embedded web page and cgi development
• Cooperative fault finding and debugging of firmware with hardware engineers

Desirable Skills
Some exposure to the following would be an advantage:
• Developing distributed networked applications
• IP Network communications
• Video/CCTV/Security industry experience
• UML design tools
• Java Development
• C++ programming (including STL) on Windows and/or Unix,
