Senior J2ME Developer

Job Purpose:
• To design and develop leading edge mobile
client applications that form a key part
of mobile 2.0 software offering.
• To work in a senior role in an agile
development team to produce a high quality
product.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop best of breed consumer focused
application for mobile devices based on
the J2ME
platform.
• Develop architecture and low end designs
based on internal and external customer
requirements.
• Communicate designs and other development
issues to developers and managers.
• Design, develop and manage automated unit
tests.
• Peer review of design code and tests.
• Participate in agile development program.
• Bug Fixing

Skills and Abilities Required:
• 5 years professional experience in
software engineering
Familiar with JSR 75, JSR 211
• Experience with client server multimedia
upload protocols desirable
• Solid programming skills in J2EE and J2ME
• Experience with mobile handset media IO,
API?s and storage
• Experience in mobile application porting
• Strong written and verbal communication
skills required.
• BS in computer science or electrical
engineering required; advanced degrees
desirable
• Strong organisational and time management
skills.
• Experience with creating j2me clients for
the purpose of embedding software
desirable
• Understanding of design patterns
• Strong application process flow and
problem solving techniques.
• High levels of software engineering
literacy and communication skills
• Friendly and professional manner
• Product development and lifecyle
experience

Desirable:

• Experience of working in an agile (XP) environment.
• Knowledge of Telecoms business
• Knowledge of Ant, Junit, IntelliJ,
Perforce
• XML experience
• Windows and Unix development

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years windows development.
• Third Level Qualifications in computing,
mathematics or science.
