Java Software Engineer - Dublin, Ireland

Vero Solutions presently has a requirement for a Java Software Developer to be based in a partner site in Dublin City Centre.

The Role:
This development role is based within the Professional Services department reporting to our Projects Manager. The role will also involve mentoring, supporting and advising a team of Java & Web Developers.
The role involves the management and development of custom project elements from initial specification to final release to the customer. The role will particularly be based around the Java development environment working in technologies such as Servlets, JSP and XML.

The role will specifically involve the following:
1. Working closely with our Projects Manager
to identify and specify custom elements of
projects.
2. The setup and configuration of technical
environment to support both company
software and bespoke development.
3. Develop custom applications / scripts, and
database structures.
4. Mentoring, supporting and advising a team
of Java & Web Developers as to technical
best practice.

The Ideal Candidate:

1. Will have worked as a Java & JSP Developer
in a commercial environment for over 2-3
years.
2. Will have excellent knowledge of various
web platforms, applications and
technologies. Practical experience using
open source solutions such as Linux,
Apache and Tomcat would be highly
advantageous.
3. Have experience in specifying projects and
working with others to develop those
specifications.
4. Communicate clearly and concisely both by
telephone and in writing.
5. Be personally well organised, presentable,
and manage ones' own time effectively.
6. Build a high level of technical competency
in the company product portfolio.
7. Ability to work in a team environment

An interest in and experience in web and database based technologies as well hardware and operating systems including: (in order or priority)
Java, Java Servlets, JSP, RDBMs, HTML/XHTML, XML, Unix, Apache/Tomcat, IIS, ASP, JDBC, Perl and CSS. Knowledge of open source solutions is a key advantage.
