Buyer
PURPOSE OF ROLE
To support the procurement section in all facets of its daily activities in ensuring that goods and services are procured at the best possible price and quality, and providing efficient support for TPS Operational support. You will also be expected to comply with the Purchasing processes and procedures and provide support in the management of commercial contracts, issuing tenders, cost management against specific budgets, and in processing and validating purchasing requests.
MAIN DUTIES
Provide contract management support for a number of commercial contracts.
Assist the contract tender process ensuring that an ethical approach is taken and all related policies and procedures are followed.
Negotiate and agree cost reductions for goods and services without compromising quality.
Assist with supplier selection and maintenance and reduction of the supplier base utilising the relevant approval procedures.
Assist the budget management process by monitoring specific budget codes and proactively advising budget managers of all actual and committed costs.
Undertake projects aimed at enhancing the performance of the Procurement team at TPS.
Support plant requirements during shutdown periods to ensure goods and services are delivered within time scales and at the right cost.
Assist with planning of material requirements for specific projects to meet plant needs.
Validate purchasing requests and make commercial recommendations concerning the issue of Purchase orders for the procurement of goods and services.
Support the vendor selection and pre-qualification process to ensure all suppliers meet Teesside Power Limited standards.
Work with the Materials Control department to ensure stock availability is maintained to the required levels.
Assist with the issue of tenders and enquiries to suppliers of services.
Place purchase orders with suppliers for goods and services in compliance with Teesside Power Limited procedures.
Expedite purchase orders to ensure delivery dates meet site requirements.
Manage invoice queries to ensure speedy resolution of all queries.
Contribute to and comply with business related objectives relating to Purchasing & contract management.
Manage purchasing activities and supplier relations including resolution of none conforming product issues.
Adhere to all purchasing procedures and formal processes in relation to ISO: 9001:2000.
Implement & maintain supplier agreements and monitor supplier performance.
Conduct vendor surveys and assessments to assess effectiveness of supplier operations in terms of quality, and value for money.
Meet internal customer requirements and ensure Maintenance and Operational needs are met.
