Dispatch Trader
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE
To maximise economic return by managing the dispatch of Teesside Power Station through the trading of both power and gas, and liaise with the operations team, trading parties and clients where necessary.
Contribute to and support the development and compliance of all relevant commercial tools, policies, procedures and strategies.
MAIN DUTIES
Maximise efficient dispatch of the plant through market trading and plant utilisation. Develop understanding of plant capability and performance in response to market conditions;
Monitor markets in order to maximise trading opportunities according to contractual power and gas obligations and maximise economic returns in line with commercial objectives. This will involve trading in the following markets:
- Over-the-Counter;
- Short-term exchanges; and
- Placing bids/offers into a balancing mechanism.
Collection of all necessary information to ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that all contract and physical notifications are submitted on a timely basis
Production and monitoring of fuel nominations and liaison with Teesside Gas Processing Plant to balance fuel and power positions.
Working closely with operation’s teams to continually monitor and make recommendations in order to maximise opportunities.
Ensure necessary and effective communications (including data flows) are maintained.
Maintain procedures and update as and when necessary, ensuring that they remain relevant and user friendly.
To be recognised as a specialist in this area by remaining up to date with industry knowledge,
legislation, trends, key organisations and best practice.
As required, undertakes ad hoc projects, including secondments to other sites, specialist projects and presentations to designated internal and external customers.
To act as a principal point of contact on designated specialist matters, providing high quality professional advice on relevant issues.
To positively represent the Trading Team’s work and the services it provides to both internal and external personnel.
To develop and maintain effective and supportive working relationships with other members of Teesside Power Limited.
