Responsible for: Supporting unemployed learners through barrier identification and resolution to enable the learner to enter the employment market. Undertaking effective job matching activities resulting in job outcomes and identifying sustainable employment opportunities for learners.


Main Purpose of the Job:

1. To assess and identify individual needs of learners and utilise a variety of means to facilitate improved employability

2. Offer vocational advice and guidance in order to assist learners to decide on career options, access routes, likely employment growth areas and training choices to enable them to achieve personal goals

3. To develop and deliver training and support mechanisms to learners, to meet individual needs and address barriers to employment.

4. Assist learners to improve levels of motivation and to take ownership of a planned route to realistic employment/training

5. Proactively seek out local employers, creating new opportunities for learner placements/employment

6. Proactively matching learners against known job vacancies

7. Work within laid down contractual agreements and procedures, and to meet set targets



Main Activities:

1. To manage a caseload of clients on a one to one and group basis.

2. To utilise a variety of means to facilitate improved employability.

3. To identify and co-ordinate a range of recruitment and selection strategies to secure employment for clients


4. To support unemployed clients in job search, job matching and sustainability of employment to include delivery of one to one and group training sessions

5. To be a source of expert advise regarding employer and vacancy expectations

6. To liaise closely with all relevant parties to ensure service levels are maintained

7. To accurately maintain relevant IT systems and produce accurate and timely management information

8. Keep up-to-date with current developments in employment growth/labour market trends, and government initiatives and legislation

9. At all times to aim to create an environment, culture and development of learning materials that maximise equality of access

10. Ensure compliance with all Dudley MBC, FSD and statutory regulations, requirements policies and procedures including commitment to and promotion of Equality & Diversity at all times

11. Undertake appropriate personal development in line with departmental needs and strategic objectives, commensurate with the grade and scope of the position

12. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the position
