E&I QC Inspector

To ensure that all E&I works associated with construction of the LNG tanks and process area are completed in compliance with the minimum quality requirements for the Grain LNG Expansion Project.

To ensure that all quality control activities related to the E&I works are executed and documented in accordance with the applicable code, project, and CB&I requirements.

To be a dynamic and proactive member of CB&I’s site based project team.

Main function within Department:

Organize and manage continuous surveillance of on-going E&I works executed by CB&I’s E&I subcontractors, including review of quality control documentation as it is generated, to verify that the minimum quality requirements are being met.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Review and become very familiar with CB&I specifications, drawings, and subcontractors’ scope of work.
2. Responsible for CB&I QC review of subcontractors’ Method Statements, QC Procedures, and ITP’s.
3. Ensure that construction personnel are using the latest revision of all documents.
4. Ensure that all certified equipment is inspected/accepted by demonstrable competent persons (e.g. Comp ‘Ex’ certified personnel) in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079 and the equipment's certification and installation instructions. Special X Certification Requirements shall be subject to formal documented evidence.
5. Confirm that Certified equipment has been installed as per the detail design, and in accordance with its ATEX certification (including special conditions of safe use).
6. Ensure by monitoring/surveillance activities that all certified equipment is installed by (Subcontractor) certified personnel in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079 and the equipment's ATEX certification (including special conditions of safe use) and installation instructions.
7. Attend witness and hold points identified in ITP’s for E&I works.
8. Responsible for CB&I’s front-line QC interface with subcontractor and client QC personnel. Encourage and facilitate open communication between CB&I, subcontractor, and client QA/QC personnel.
9. Provide communication interface between CB&I’s QA/QC department and construction management personnel.
10. Ensure subcontractors are generating and providing CB&I with the required QC documentation on a timely basis.
11. Front-line responsibility to resolve quality issues with subcontractor QC personnel and client QC inspectors.
12. Attend weekly progress meetings with subcontractors, and actively participate in discussions related to QA/QC issues.
13. Maintain a log or diary of daily work activities, inspections, significant events, etc.
14. Help maintain CB&I’s project files, both hard copy and electronic.

Essential Experience & Training

Minimum 10 years in progressively responsible QC E&I positions.
Comp “Ex” certified.
Knowledge of ISO9001:2000.
Knowledge of ATEX requirements

Computer literate
Wide range of inter-discipline knowledge.
