Production Geologist
The job function includes, but is not limited to, the following for your areas of responsibility:
Analyze and apply static data obtained from well logging, stratigraphy investigation, sedimentology, diagonesis, and image logs toward building a geologic model for use in reservoir simulation and other engineering projects.
Build cross-sections and map geologic and reservoir properties such as structure, isopachs, facies, porosity, permeability, etc in support of development projects.
Utilize hydraulic flow units, acoustic impedance, geostatistics in reservoir characterisation to provide options for initial reservoir simulation setup and/or updates.
Interact with reservoir and production engineers to assist in interpretation of reservoir monitoring tools such as PLT’s, RFT’s.
Work with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of reservoir engineers, production engineers, drilling engineers, petrophysicists, geophysicists and geologists to characterize, develop and produce reservoirs.
Update volumetric in-place fluids on an annual basis, including quantification of uncertainty.
Participate in the planning and design of wells, both vertical and horizontal.
Participate in writing well programs for drilling, logging, coring, completions and workovers.
Keep current on new, state-of-the-art technology, processes and software.
Assist in preparing yearly budget requirements.
Prepare and present professional presentations for technical meetings.
Prepare professional presentations for the Manager to present to Owners.
Have an active role in personnel development in the Department through supervision, work reviews, training and mentoring.
The Production Geologist will have the following minimum qualifications:
15+ years experience in development geology, overseas experience is an asset.
BS in Geosciences or Engineering; advanced degree is an asset.
Reservoir Engineering experience is an asset.
Direct knowledge of LWD, MWD and geosteering activity in horizontal wells.
Working knowledge of 2D and 3D reservoir modeling, including deterministic and stochastic geocellular modeling techniques.
Good background in lOR and EOR processes.
Proficiency in industry-standard geosciences software, experience in Petrill and CPS3 and equivalent is an asset.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
