EiRC Senior SW Developer

Job description
We are currently seeking to recruit a senior software developer to join a European mobile communications development team in our Ireland Research Centre (EiRC), Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for prototyping software and services that will help deliver the promises of next generation management systems. We offer opportunities to work in emerging and future areas of research including Service Oriented Architectures, TMF based Information Modeling, Semantic technologies, and the application of autonomic, highly distributed, and peer to peer computing techniques to the field of network management. The role also entails building and maintaining prototype test environments.
You will be working within a highly motivated team who have an outstanding track record in achieving project goals.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will develop a wide range of software for next generation management systems.

You will be involved in most phases of the prototype development lifecycle, from design, through implementation and into verification in an environment where timescales for delivery are very short. As well as developing prototypes, you will have a role in building and maintaining our prototyping environment.

Competence
• A very good knowledge of Java and its
supporting technologies is essential (3- 5
years)
• Knowledge of Eclipse RPC is very
advantageous
• Knowledge of XML and UML technologies

Desirable Experience
• Experience of developing proof of concepts
• A working knowledge of network
administration
• Good understanding of telecommunications
and data communications
• Experience in user interface development
• OS Experience, Specifically in
Linux/Solaris and/Or Windows
• Networking

Person Requirements
• Successful applicants will have a
university degree in Engineering or
Computer Science or other relevant degree.
• Excellent communication and documentation
skills.
• A team player with self-starter drive
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Quality focused
