VAC/581/2008/TR2201DC - Regional Transport Planning Manager
Our Client is a major household name, the UKs number one retailer and the worlds largest on-line grocer. Our Clients distribution centres, a mixture of ambient food, non food or composite are intensive 24 hour 7 days per week operations.
They are currently seeking a Regional Transport Planning Manager for their Frozen and Chilled DC in Oxfordshire.
As a Regional Planning Manager you will manage a team of Regional Planners and will take charge of distribution schedules for a number of our clients stores and distribution centres.
The delivery of a high quality service will ultimately be your responsibility. So too, will be the Planning Office budget. In fact you will be accountable for the quality and cost-effectiveness of all scheduling output – from modelling for peak trading to store ripple plans.
With your team of Planners it will be down to you to produce a regional transport schedule that gives our clients operation an edge over their competitors. Keenly aware of the impact of schedules on driver cost savings, you will place a great deal of emphasis on financial planning and analysis.
Because deadlines are paramount, your team will need the confidence to manage conflicting demands from different stores. They will also need to have a clear picture of the rules affecting drivers’ working times and the and Skills:
You will need to demonstrate the ability to translate our Client’s vision into how you and your team of Regional Planners will operate, as well as hands on approach to succeed in a demanding environment.
For this lynchpin role, a deep understanding of transport operations is critical – particular with regard to driver shift patterns and fleet resourcing.
As an experienced leader of people you will display leadership qualities such as influencing and team working, and have the ability to drive and manage change to benefit the business. You should also demonstrate good analytical, organisational and communication skills. It is essential that you have a working knowledge of the Paragon system and an in-depth knowledge of Driver Hour Regulations.

The salary range is 30-33k pa. The successful candidates starting salary will be determined by the candidates skill set and experience. In addition there is a range of excellent benefits and overtime is payable under some circumstances.
