Software Configuration Management Engineer

Vero Solutions presently has a requirement for a Software Configuration Management Engineer
to be based in our partner site in Co. Clare. This is a long term contract role of up to 12 months.

Role Overview:
• Design, implement and maintain an
automated build system for development
groups.
• Control and manage repeatable build
environments for various releases,
branches and patches, including control of
scripts used by each group for Automnated
Nightly Builds.
• Propose and control compiler versions and
third party software versions.
• Identify current CM practices and develop
a working process.
• Oversee and champion introduction of
suitable CM process
• Maintain and document CM process on
ongoing basis through feedback, metrics
and audits.
• Define standard SCM tools in conjunction
with development groups.
• Provide expert support to development
groups on SCM tools
• Provide guidance to development groups on
best practices on branching and merging.
• Provide direction in relation to
documentation control.
• Constructs template for CM on a project
basis and monitors over the project
lifecycle.

Requirements.
• Prior experience of build environments.
• Expertise in configuring complex make
files in a build environment
• Knowledge of other make tools such as Ant and Maven.
• Experience in TAO CORBA and ACE libraries,
from a build point of view.
• Expertise in compilers on Solaris and
Linux environments.
• Expertise in SCM tools in particular CVS
and SVN.

Personal Skills:
• Must have logical and good analytical
problem solving ability to deal with build
issues.
• Ability to work on your own or in a team.
• Ability to take a project from start to
completion.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to track changes in technologies
and third party software which affect the
build environment.

Skills that would be an advantage:

• Shell scripting on a Unix environment.
• System Admin skills, especially on
Solaris.
• Knowledge of build environments for C, C++
and Java code bases.
• Knowledge of various IDE’s such as
Eclipse, Netbeans, Sun Studio.
• Knowledge of documentation control tools.
