Communications Officer - Docklands

As part of its overall marketing activities, our client is very active in communicating its views on Europe’s economy, industries and companies to the region’s financial media. They have extensive contact with financial dailies, specialist press, news agencies and TV throughout the region, and generate a large volume of media coverage. The Communications team in London coordinates media relations and other communications activities throughout Europe, working with management and analytical teams internally and with a network of communications managers in key markets.

Among other activities, it creates and distributes media releases, organises media conferences and interviews, and manages the European sections of their internet and intranet sites.

The successful candidate will be a member of an 8-person European communications department responsible for handling media relations for Investment Services in Europe and supporting press office activities across the European businesses.

Main responsibilities:
•Develop and implement PR initiatives to promote investment services businesses (especially equity research, fund research and index services), in conjunction with retained PR agencies
•Write/edit media releases and articles
•Arrange press conferences, briefings, interviews etc
•Develop relationships with key journalists and relevant managers/analysts internally
•Handle incoming media enquiries to press office
•Help with general press office duties (including media monitoring, coverage analysis, distribution of media releases etc)
•Create and post content to intranet and internet sites
•Assist with internal communications activities
•Undertake variety of logistical tasks, projects and research as part of European communications team
•Previous experience working within a communications function, either in-house, for an agency, or in the media
•Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
•Experience or knowledge of financial markets - advantageous
•Fluent English (other European language would be an advantage)

•Ability to take initiative, prioritise, manage time effectively
•Excellent administrative and organisational skills
•Technical computing skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, internet etc)
•Graduate
