Engineering Manager
Excellent salary plus full benefits
Nampak Plastics Europe, being one of the largest high volume manufacturers of rigid plastic containers to the Food and Drink industry is a key part of the world’s most diverse packaging Group. The development of strong customer relationships and exceeding customer expectations are key focus areas for the business. With a commitment to delivering unrivalled customer service, there is a constant drive for quality, continuous improvement and efficiency within the business – the engineering function is key to this success.
Reporting to the Plant Manager as the site ‘number two’, you will have full responsibility for all the technology and machinery on site. The site is a ‘through the wall’ operation, working in partnership with a major UK Blue chip company and through a team of skilled engineers, you will effectively plan and budget for timely maintenance and repair such that downtime is minimised and the on-site customer supplied with product 24/7. Responsible for the delivery of sound engineering skills and improvements you will be required to demonstrate the experience and hands-on ability to drive the site forwards with technology and innovation.
Delivering optimum performance of both your team and the kit, you will work with the Plant Manager to explore all potential opportunities to improve efficiencies. Working with in-house technical design teams to develop new processes or to refine existing machinery, it will be your responsibility to focus attention on the ‘hotspots’ and ‘bottlenecks’ being constantly mindful of issues such as health and safety. You will work with other sites across the UK to ensure best practice and continuous improvement.
Through your leadership, the team will become fully multi-skilled. It would be a benefit in the short-term however if your own bias were towards electrical engineering. Experience of the management and operation of PLC drives and electronic data collection systems would be an advantage. From time to time, your ability to lead by example ‘on the tools’ will be as valuable as your management style and general commercial acumen. In return for your commitment, the company promises to offer a clear career development path.
