Shop Assistant / Trainee Locksmith

Our client is currently expanding and is now looking for a shop assistant and trainee locksmith to run their shop.
Duties:
- To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop.
- Serving customers.
- Cutting keys.
- Familiarise yourself with the range of products.
-Using the latest computerised key cutting programmes.
- Advising customers on locks & secondary security products.
- Selling products.
- Will need to become aware of the minimum insurance requirements for household security, to know the technical terms used in the trade and become familiar with the enormous range of products available.
- To be able to advise on suitability and the fitting of safes.
- Placing and chasing orders with suppliers.
- Checking stock levels.
- Preparing quotes and sales invoices.
- Banking and various administration activities.
- Repairing locks and making keys to suit customers' locks.
- From time to time required to go out with technician in order to get familiarised with methods of work and to give assistance on "two-man" jobs. - involves heavy lifting.
- The candidate will be required to account for cash and stock and will be fully responsible for ensuring that all goods and services are paid for.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the shop which must be kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensuring that all required standards are maintained.
- Training will be provided.

Requirements:

- Must be able to work alone.
- Some computer ability is essential.
- Excellent communication skills: must be able to advise customers.
- Checkable references.
- Must be able to do heavy lifting.
- Must be able to problem solve.
- Some experience in metal working, wood working or electrical works will be advantageous.
- We need someone with imagination and flair that is able to develop the shop business and grow with the company.
- In the longer term this person can progress to become a fully qualified mobile locksmith.
