SENIOR MANAGER (OPERATIONS) ENGINEER

SENIOR MANAGER (WESTERN CAPE)

The successful candidate will be responsible to manage the supply and maintenance of Rolling Stock and the support Functions within the guidelines of the Rolling Stock business plan and the regional strategic plan and to ensure the integration of the same into a regional Rolling Stock business plan.

OUTPUT:
• Manage Subordinates outputs.
• Provide safe, travel worthy, clean and reliable train sets.
• Financial management.
• Ensure the long term preservation of the fleet through proper maintenance and overhaul planning.
• Create a culture and implement a quality assurance system.
• Ensure safe procedures and operating conditions in accordance with At 85.
• Enter into and manage contracts for buy-in services, outsourcing and materials.
• Manage operations.
• Regional Rolling stock Business plan.
• Engineering solutions for Rolling stock fleet.
• To promote integration and compatibility of plans and actions.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Fleet and Financial Management. Including Budgeting
• Project Management.
• Industrial Engineering.
• Labour relations Act 85.
• Quality Assurance Management.
• Business Planning and Safety Management.
• Tender and Contract Administration.
• Policies and Procedures; Career-pathing.
• Operations Management

REQUIREMENTS (Critical Skills)
• Matric and B.Sc. Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial
• Registered as Professional Engineer
• Management qualification (MBA/MBL (Desirable but not essential)).
• 5 years experience as a Depot Manager or Deputy Rolling Stock manager or Business Unit Manager.
• 6 years Rolling Management experience
• 5-8 years Engineering Support/Operations Support.
• Management; Planning.
• Decision-making; Negotiation.
• Change agent;
• Computer literacy.
