HTML/CSS Designer

Digital Look is a leading financial information and news service, providing a comprehensive suite of stock market & personal finance data, tools and education to clients.

Based in central London, we are a well established and fast growing financial media and technology company growing at more than 50% per year. This represents a significant opportunity for candidates to develop their roles and career rapidly.

Background to & purpose of role: To support all aspects of web design and implementation

Key responsibilities:
• Produce commercial orientated design work from briefs, turning it into ready to go W3C compliant XHTML and CSS
• Work closely with others including the development team, to take concepts through to completion and ensure designs are implemented as required
• Follow strict quality checking procedures to deliver a high quality, professional product to company agreed standards
• Understand key usability concepts and ensure design best practice is followed to provide solutions which are easy to use and navigate
• Create online marketing material including banners, e-mails and promotions, as required
• May be required to produce some print work
• Communicate status clearly, both written and verbal, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure the solution meets their needs
• Update and complete all agreed electronic and paper documentation and systems to company agreed standards
• Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role and participate in appropriate training to develop the necessary skills

Essential
• Commercial experience and or relevant degree
• Experience hand coding W3C compliant XHTML and CSS including issues surrounding cross browser compatibility and accessibility, including DDA compliance
• Experience with JavaScript, Flash and InDesign
• Drive and desire to succeed with the ability to work with limited supervision but also as part of a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Desirable
• Arts related degree or equivalent
• Good design skills with knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator
• Understanding of code release procedures, CVS or SVN and unit testing
An interest and knowledge of the financial markets
