Senior/Principal Safety Engineer

Degree in a relevant subject (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering) preferably Chartered Status. Proven experience of working in a design office on oil, gas or petrochemical projects (on- or offshore) and co-ordination with other disciplines. Competency in the use of proprietary design programs on Quantified Risk Analysis and Consequence Analysis Modelling. Experience in construction site investigations and analysis of cause and effect.
Experience in specification and design of Fixed Firewater/Foam Protection Systems, production of relevant design documentation (P&IDs, specifications, datasheets etc) and procurement of equipment. Experience in design of Fire & Gas Detection Systems (development of detection philosophy, preparation of detector layouts and Cause & Effect Logic). Attendance at HAZOP, SIL Review, HAZID and other Safety Design reviews and management and follow-up of resulting actions. Development of Project Safety Plans (activities, schedule, etc). Organisation and performance of Safety Audits, follow-up and close-out. Area Classification Studies (development of schedule and layouts). Knowledge of relevant industry codes (API, NFPA, IEC, ISO, etc). Ability to work independently and also in project teams.
