System Architect – Shannon, Co Clare

A development partner of Vero Solutions currently has a requirement for a Systems Architect. This role is based in Shannon, Co. Clare.

The System Definition team is responsible for the architecture of company products, analysis of product requirements, research into areas relevant to company products and the development and feasibility analysis of new product ideas.
The successful candidate will:
- Work on definition and analysis of product requirements with product management.
- Evaluate RFQ/RFIs with product management.
- Research and evaluate new product ideas.
- Follow requirements from feasibility analysis through the full software development lifecycle.
- Review functional requirement specifications and functional specifications.

Required Skills
- Electronic engineering, Computer Science or other relevant degree.
- 5+ years experience in developing software in a telecom and/or billing environment.
- Understanding of telecoms networks, particularly GSM, GPRS, UMTS, fixed line networks.
- Familiarity with GSM protocols e.g. SS7, CAP, INAP, MAP, SMPP, Parlay.
- Familiarity with IP based protocols e.g. Radius, Diameter, Sigtran, SIP.
- Real-time software development experience
- Advanced C++, C or Java programming.
- In-depth knowledge of Sybase, Oracle or another commercial relational database.
- SQL database development or database administration experience.
- Unix (Solaris or Linux)
- XML familiarity
- Candidates will be expected to learn quickly, demonstrate creative and practical problem solving, and possess sound judgment.
- Excellent organization and communication skills and ability to work under individual initiative.
Focused Skill set
Relevant experience with some of the technologies is highly desirable, especially in the product areas specified:
- CORBA programming
- Performance analysis and benchmarking
- Exposure to UML modelling
- VoiceXML/CCXML
- HA clustering, replication
- Network and System Configuration, Monitoring, Administration
- Unix Scripting
- Real-time Rating experience
- Experience with web services (SOAP, Parlay X)
- Tomcat and Java Servlet development experience
