Addictions Counsellor
A diploma level qualification in counselling or similar addictions qualification is essential. Experience with the abstinence model to treat addictions and facilitating groups. FDAP membership or experience with the 12 step process would be a benefit although training would be available on this model.
A local service is looking for an addictions counsellor to take onto their ever expanding team. The role will involve counseling clients with a variety of addiction issues, referred through a number of sources including self referrals and G.P referrals, performing initial and follow up assessments as well as designing care plans. The role will then follow up these care plans with key work sessions in line with the 12 step methodology as well as facilitating regular group sessions around topics such as relapse prevention. This role has an attractive salary as well as good benefits including 25 days annual leave and a well funded training program.
