Business Development Manager
This role acts as the primary customer contact on all queries (whether through sales managers or directly from customers), determining, coordinating and delivering on-site responses in addition to driving sales by acquiring new customers and supporting business development opportunities as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (key accountabilities)
Ensure that all customer support work is carried out to the appropriate standards of health, safety and environmental considerations, and in compliance with all relevant corporate, legislative, regulatory, customer and other standards.
Care for existing company A Pharma relationships; experience in handling complex multi-step projects.
Ensure quotations are priced, submitted and closed, finalising appropriate contractual terms for quotation.
Monitor progress of orders and communication with customers in conjunction with the project management team.
Identify potential new customers for company A, initiating contact and arranging visits to present company A services.
Support sales managers in their dealings with key/potential customers; support and deliver training/information requirements of sales team and agents re the plant product portfolio and growth potential.
Ensure contact is maintained with existing customers and that customer satisfaction levels are recorded.
Act as primary recipient for all customer complaints, referring internally as appropriate, ensuring adequate investigation and corrective actions, and providing on-going progress reports to customers concerned.
Represent the plant within European/Global structures, attending meetings/ conferences/virtual meetings/conference calls etc as appropriate.
Support and respond to needs of direct customers/accounts of the plant site.
Work with Operations and Supply Chain Managers to examine production scheduling and raw material availability, and therefore to determine order enquiry responses.
Work with Financial Controller to determine general pricing structure for product portfolio and to determine individual pricing responses as required.
Collate information from Operations, Supply Chain and Finance to determine appropriate responses to customer queries/issues.
Manage customer service administration, coordinating and send order enquiry responses to customer/sales managers.
Ensure all orders and order enquiries are input into relevant data capture systems (manual, electronic or on-line), and that all filing/information is stored and managed in an effective manner.
Submit all required reporting (accounting, feasibility, evaluations, activity reports, activity plans etc) to provide regular information on sales (current status, potential business, forecasting etc) to key managers.
Use industry data to identify business prospects and to assist with generating sufficient sales for business requirements (according to market responsibilities), supporting all
business development opportunities as required.
Undertake other project work and any other duties as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Third level qualification (Diploma/Degree) in marketing or chemistry related field or equivalent experience.
Experience/key achievements:
A sound understanding of the drug discovery and development process
A knowledge of drug approval and registration requirements in all regions
BD experience within a Pharma environment; a successful track record of sales growth
The ability to build positive, productive internal and external relationships
Outstanding written, spoken and listening communication skills
Strong analytical, financial and commercial skills.
Significant level of experience in customer support role in multinational/global environment.
Skills/Knowledge:

Business acumen, customer focus and commitment to team work.
High level of computer literacy required including materials databases, CRM systems etc.
Proven ability to operate in a multi-location, virtual team environment.
High levels of professionalism, self-initiative, motivation and interest in travel.
Energetic, committed individual who can work to tight deadlines, and in a flexible way when necessary.
Desirable:
Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical/chemical industry, players, competitive positioning etc.
Ability to identify, develop and deliver on process improvement opportunities.
