Our client is an independent European oil and gas exploration and production company that has a balanced portfolio of world-class assets and a forecast net production for 2006 of 36,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Production is generated from assets in Europe, North Africa and South America. In addition there is a significant upside potential within these areas of operation including undeveloped oil and gas discoveries and ongoing exploration programs with their exploration assets in other parts of Africa and Eastern Europe. Presently they have an opening for an experienced Geophysicist to join their team in Aberdeen working on maximising the potential of the North Sea assets.

Reporting directly to the Subsurface Manager, this is a key position which holds responsibility for all geophysical aspects of the UK producing fields, near field exploration and development opportunities. Key responsibilities will include:
· Interpretation of 2/3D depth and time seismic data as part of prospect/project generation and evaluation
· Coordination of seismic acquisition, processing and modelling projects including recommendation and supervision of consultants and contractors
· Planning and implementation of pre- and post-stack seismic attribute processing and analysis for quantitative and qualitative reservoir description
· Apply AVO and AI concepts as part of the interpretation process, including normal incidence and offset domain modelling
· Depth conversion and mapping
· Collaboration with other Geoscience staff and managers regarding acquisition and utilisation of geophysical hardware and software, special projects and new advanced geophysical techniques
· Interaction with industry through personal contacts, trade shows, seminars and conventions in accordance with company policy
· Provision of input to geological model construction
· Provision of input to the identification, justification, planning and review of drilling opportunities
· Playing an integral role in the long term reservoir development and management strategy

Those suitable for this position will have a relevant Geoscience degree, with postgraduate qualifications preferred, at least 10 years operator experience and experience of production, development and near field exploitation on UKCS or NOCS assets. As well as having good communication skills, the ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work with minimum supervision in a small team. Experience with Kingdom and Petrel is also preferred.
